BETTER BAGS began when a small seed was planted, after receiving a gift of an imitation PU leather bag, with a concealed beverage or wine bottle foil-pouch, keeping it cool, attracting huge amounts of interest and fun, no matter where we went…
Whilst not an original idea, the design of the original bag received was old-fashioned, so research around the world began with intense vigour, providing very limited, and nothing up-market enough in genuine leather…
The search then continued, travelling far and wide within South Africa, looking for a suitable genuine leather hand-bag manufacturer, which was met with similar unsatisfactory results…
Discussions with an exclusive, imported leather supplier eventually united us with a small, but highly skilled team, who listened carefully to our concept bag envisaged. Work began immediately, and within 24 hours, the basic design had been born and presented, in genuine leather. Discussions, improvements, and modifications were made, until we were satisfied with the final design and quality, manufacturing began, and BETTER BAGS was born…
Now that the BETTER BAGS design had been finalised in genuine leather, we began the search, sourcing genuine leather, unique materials for inner-linings, and quality fittings. A new fashion industry was discovered, continually changing, seldom being able to find and source the same materials again. As a result, we began purchasing all available stock of suitable inner-lining materials…
Whilst searching around various fabric shops for suitable patterns, we found colourful, fun, and trendy materials, which we once again saw as an opportunity, and purchased, with the intention to produce a more affordable BETTER BAG, with the second bag providing even more employment opportunities…
We then came across a colourful vegan leather, which had an artistic expression, and believed it to be a real winner to. Another manufacturer was located, sourced and secured, and deviating from their normal course of business, a third BETTER BAG was born, for everyday use, positioned in the middle range…
